Answers to Some Questions
Who are we?
We are a non profit, non denominational mission organization which constructs small 3 wheeled utility vehicles primarily for use in remote areas of the world where other forms of motorized transportation are non existent or extremely limited. Use of the vehicles is not limited to these areas, however. Our board of directors is made up of persons from different denominational church groups.
Where are we?
We are located just a few miles north of Johnstown, Pennsylvania in a small community known as Echo. It is a short distance off Rt. 271 North from Johnstown. We occupy a small abandoned church building which has been modified and expanded for construction of the muv's. Financial help and donated labor by work teams made the expansion of the building possible.
Just what is a "MUV"?
A MUV (mission utility vehicle) is a vehicle with a small one cylinder engine mounted over the front wheel. There is a frame upon which the seat and wooden bed are attached, supported by 2 rear wheels as seen in photo at top of this page. The engines are either an 8 hp Briggs & Stratton or a Lister-Petter diesel. Rate of speed is determined by one of 3 belts for low, medium, or high range. The wheels are small automotive type.
Simplicity of design and availability of parts enable the MUV to be very useful and effective in remote areas of the world.
What are some of the latest happenings?
In recent months 2 MUV's have been shipped to Bolivia, 1 to the Heifer Project in Arkansas, 1 to the McCurdy School in New Mexico, and 2 are presently on the way to Nicaragua -- for more information as to how MUV's are used go to Tell me more!
How can you get involved?
- For starters, you can specifically pray for us:
- that God will give direction in our work to the end that His will, rather than ours, will be done
- that we will be able to connect with those persons and groups that need a MUV in their part of the world
- that barriers often encountered in paperwork, shipping and import tariffs, will be removed
- that financial needs will be met
- you can help with your personal financial support
