Information from Our Brochure

A special kind of transportation designed to meet the needs of
mission workers in third-world areas, so people can work and live.

--- from brochure cover.

What Can Simple, Basic Transportation Do?

A MUV is carrying building materials in Zaire to construct housing for the homeless. Another is carrying food and mediacal supplies to a remote area of Honduras. The United Methodist Church is using them to help the rural poor in the Philippines. Another is serving as an ambulance for World Gospel Mission in Kenya, Africa. In Zimbabwe, a village receives safe drinking water delivered by MUV. A priest uses his in New Guinea.

In Bolivia a missionary uses his MUV to haul construction materials for a new church building. In Haiti, a MUV is operated by Children's International Lifeline. In Ghana, the MUV hauls produce, grown by low-income people, eight miles to market, where previously it had to be carried on the heads of the women. In the United States, MUV's are equipped to transport the physically challenged. The Grace Brethren Foreign Mission uses a diesel MUV to transport paitients to an from hospitals in Chad, Africa.

Transportation....a Vital Link to Missions!

Wherever mission workers need to reach people where they live, transportation is essential. Most forms of motor transportation are impractical in remote areas because repairs and spare parts are difficult and expensive to obtain. The MUV was designed by Earl minor, a missionary, who was aware of the need for a simple, easy-to-maintain economical vehicle. The MUV costs less than an automobile or truck, even including the shipping costs. It will go further on a gallon of gasoline than most vehicles and easily hauls a half-ton load. Parts are readily available in most countries of the world for its simple, one-cylinder engine. The MUV is also available with a 7.5 BHP Diesel engine for places where diesel fuel is more readily available then gasoline.

The basic MUV costs $3,800.00. We have several designs to accomodate a particular need. Call or write for more information.

Many MUV vehicles are sponsored by donations from church groups and other charitable organizations and individuals. Mission Utility Vehicles, Inc. accepts requests for MUV's from workers of all denominations. Determination to ship a vehicle to a particular project is dependent upon availability, and contingent upon a proper arrangement for importation into the country in accordance with local laws.

Help Provide a MUV for a Missionary

Many MUV's are provided free to mission personnel through the donation of local churches, church classes, individuals and organizations or are acquired by mission organizations to supply their own missionaries. We usually have a waiting list of requests for these sturdy, reliable machines from missionaries and church organizations in the United States and in other countries around the world. Raising funds can be made easier because the vehicle can be displayed at your church for examination and demonstration. Mission Utility Vehicles will be happy to provide a 12 minute video presentation to help explain what a MUV is and what a MUV does.

............The MUV comes in several designs. The basic MUV comes with an industrial/commercial 8 hp Briggs & Stratton gas engine. The body style is for hauling up to a half ton load and is equipped with two tool boxes built in. We also have a model with seats that can easily carry four people plus driver or can be equipped with a ramp for wheelchairs or to carry stretchers. We also now have available a 7.5 bhp Lister Petter diesel engine and a Lombordini diesel for areas where diesel fuel is more readily available than gasoline. The basic MUV with the gasoline engine costs $3,800.00. The other models vary in cost depending on models and engines required. Shipping costs also vary depending on destination and mode of transportation. Questions on the different models can be relayed through the email address given or by phone at the number given, both of which are listed below.

The concept of the MUV was developed by Mr. Earl Miner, an engineer and missionary, and was originally called a TRAG. The MUV is now built in Western Pennsylvania by Mission Utility Vehicles, Inc., a non-profit non-denominational organization willing to provide this unizue transportation to any person or organization to whom its use will help improve their ability to provide for themselves and others.

Arrangements can usually be made to have the MUV visit your church so that your congregation can see this unique mission machine first-hand.

The MUV is an excellent project for a Sunday School class, fellowship group, or church. It is easy to picture and remember and provides direct help for our mission workers who have requested such a vehicle.

Your support NOW can mean
hope for a better tomorrow!
